Said to have originated in the streets of Singapore, hence the name, the Singapura is one of the rarest breeds of cats.  They are very sociable and affectionate and will want to follow you everywhere you go.  

The Singapura is a small, compact, muscular cat . They come in one color, Sepia Agouti, which is a warm ivory color with dark brown ticking on the tips of the hair.  Their coat is smooth and lies flat against the body giving them a very sleek look with very little shedding.  They are fine boned with dainty paws that seem to have springs attached to them when they run, hop and play.   Large ears sit atop their small round head,.  Their expressive face and large almond eyes give them an alert, inquisitive look that is very endearing. 

Although they are very quiet and have a very soft voice, Singapuras will find ingenious ways to demand your attention.   They are highly active and playful and will entertain and delight you with their games and acrobatics.   Singapuras get along well with other pets and children and prefer to have companionship.  They are not happy when left alone for long periods of time.  They are smart and can be mischievious if left to their own devices.   But most of all, Singapuras are loving, interactive cats that make wonderful, life-long companions.

In my many years of breeding and showing pedigreed cats, I have come to strongly believe that health and temperament are forefront to any cattery breeding program.  At Calcatta Singapuras I endeavour to breed the healthiest cats possible and all of my Singapuras are tested by Board Certified Veterinary Specialists for hereditary diseases such as PKD, HCM and PRA.  My cats are also examined regularly by my veterinarian and my cats are free of contagious diseases and parasites.  

I do like to show my cats and kittens to ensure that my Singapuras are top quality.  I appreciate the perspective of the judges and my fellow breeders and I enjoy learning all that I can from them in order to continue to produce Singapuras that adhere to the Standard and are continually improving.
